There’s something wonderfully calming about a kitchen that knows exactly what it wants to be. This recent project is a masterclass in modern, minimalist design: a sophisticated space built around a deep, moody colour paired with warm natural textures and unexpected metallic details that catch the light throughout the day.
A Sophisticated Colour Palette: Hague Blue with Natural Oak
At the heart of this kitchen is a beautiful run of slab grain doors, painted in Hague Blue. It’s a colour that reads as almost black in low light and takes on a rich, inky depth in daylight, giving the room an instant sense of sophistication without feeling heavy.
To stop the cabinetry from feeling too dark or one note, we contrasted it with warm, natural timber oak Gola handles and a matching wooden shelf. The handle-less Gola profile keeps the doors clean and slab-like, while the oak grain running through it brings genuine warmth into the room, a lovely counterpoint to the cool, contemporary blue.
A Bright Dekton Marina Worktop to Complement the Cabinetry
For the worktop, we chose a 20mm Dekton Marina in a bright white, marble look finish. Dekton is completely stain proof and incredibly hard wearing, so it’s a practical choice for a busy family kitchen, but it’s the look that really sells it here. The pale, veined surface creates a clean, light plane that sits beautifully against the darker Hague Blue cabinetry, keeping the whole scheme feeling airy rather than heavy.
The Island: A Statement Piece Built Around a Vented Hob
The large island is very much the centrepiece of this kitchen. It’s fitted with a Siemens hob with integrated ventilation, so there’s no bulky extractor hood needed above the island, just a clean, uninterrupted ceiling line and an open, sociable cooking space where the cook can still face into the room.
Ceramic Sink and Rose Copper Tapware for a Luxe Finish
Sitting alongside the island is a ceramic Villeroy and Boch undermounted sink, chosen for its clean lines and durability. Above it, a Quooker tap in rose copper does double duty: instant boiling water on tap, styled in a warm, on trend copper finish that immediately draws the eye. We carried the same rose copper finish through to a matching soap dispenser on the back wall, a small detail that ties the whole tap and sink area together.
Neff Flex Design Range Appliances with Copper Details Finish the Look
The copper theme continues into the appliances, with Neff ovens featuring copper strip detailing that echoes the tap and soap dispenser. It’s a lovely way of pulling every element of the kitchen, cabinetry, worktop, tapware and appliances, into one cohesive, considered design.
